How I Started Earning Online as an Intermediate Student (And You Can Too)
FINANCEFEATURED

If someone had told me during my intermediate days that I’d be making money online sitting in my room, I would’ve laughed it off. Like most students, I thought online earning was only for people with degrees, fancy skills, or big investments. But when I decided to dig a little deeper, I found opportunities that were very real and surprisingly beginner-friendly.
In this post, I’ll walk you through how I got started, what I learned (the hard way), and how any student with a mobile phone and an internet connection can begin their own journey.
Why I Even Thought of Online Earning
After finishing my intermediate exams, I found myself with a lot of free time. Instead of spending it endlessly scrolling through Instagram or binge watching shows, I thought, What if I could use this time to learn something useful? That “something” turned out to be online earning.
I didn’t have a laptop at the time, just a basic Android phone and a prepaid internet package. But what I had even more than that was curiosity and that’s the real starting point.
What Worked for Me (And What Didn't)
At first, I made the same mistake most beginners do: I searched “how to earn money online fast” and ended up wasting time on shady apps and surveys that paid next to nothing.
Eventually, I focused on three areas:
1. Freelancing (Even Without Big Skills)
I discovered platforms like Fiverr where people were offering basic services like removing image backgrounds, converting files, or writing simple content. I tried offering help with typing assignments and small editing tasks. Slowly, people started noticing. I learned basic tools like Canva and MS Word, and those turned out to be enough for small gigs.
2. Content Creation
This doesn’t mean I became an influencer. But I started sharing tips I was learning online through Instagram stories, Tik Tok, and small reels. One of my short videos about “earning from mobile” got over 15k views, and from there I started getting DMs asking for help. I didn’t sell courses I simply started helping and built a small community.
3. Affiliate & Reselling
I joined some platforms where I could promote products and earn a commission per sale no need to keep stock or invest money. Even reselling clothes through WhatsApp groups helped me earn something extra every week.
Things I Wish I Knew Earlier
Avoid shortcuts: If something sounds too easy or “guaranteed,” it’s usually a trap. I wasted days testing useless apps.
Skills matter: Even if you’re just learning basic design or writing, spend time practicing. Skills multiply your income.
Patience wins: I didn’t earn in the first week or even second. But consistent effort paid off.
Final Thoughts
As a student, I realized we underestimate our time. Even one or two focused hours a day can change your direction. I’m not saying you’ll earn lakhs overnight but you can earn enough to support your pocket money, build confidence, and even help your family a little.
If I just a normal intermediate student from Lahore can do this with a mobile phone, I truly believe you can too. All it takes is the decision to start.
